Know Your Trainer.

Know Your Why.

Horses are expensive, and not everyone has the ability to send one away for training or haul long distances for consistent help. I understand that personally. I rode horses at local lesson barns until I bought my first horse at 16. I worked my way up from cleaning stalls to managing high end facilities, working closely alongside local equine veterinarians, and learning from respected trainers. That hands-on experience shaped not only how I ride, but how I teach.

My program welcomes riders of all ages and experience levels, and horses in every stage of life. While my specialties are barrel racing and ranch riding, I believe every horse and rider should build a solid foundation before asking for more. True progress starts with communication, consistency, and trust.

That belief is what shaped this program. I wanted to create a training approach that is accessible, practical, and built around the needs of both horse and rider. Whether that means in-person lessons, virtual coaching, or ongoing support between rides, my goal is to make quality guidance more available and more effective.

At the center of it all is the belief that horse and rider should grow together. My goal is to help build confidence, strengthen communication, and create lasting partnerships. Always putting the horse first.

Because better horses start with better understanding.”

“I believe training should be productive, enjoyable, and always centered around what’s best for the horse.

About Harley

-Harley Dixon

Owner/Trainer at HCD Performance Horses

I started with the basics, learning daily care, and quickly found myself wanting to learn everything I could. That drive led me to work with a trainer in South Carolina, where I gained experience with rescue horses and a wide range of disciplines, both Western and English. From assisting with lessons to helping at shows, I built my foundation through hands on experience and a willingness to learn.

Over time, I found my place in barrel racing and ranch horse work.

After moving to southwestern Ohio trying to find a trainer who fit me and my horse, and who prioritized communication was a challenge. Too often, I was told what to do without ever being taught how or why it mattered.

Working with Harley changed that.

She helped me understand the “why” behind every step my horse and I take. That understanding transformed not only my riding, but the relationship I have with my horse.

I’ve learned to read movement, energy, and feel with a level of awareness that goes beyond words. That perspective shapes how I work with horses. Never over pushing and leading with quiet confidence.

I’m passionate about helping horses and riders grow together because I understand how much confidence can come from clear communication and the right support.”

“From the moment I rode my first horse, I was hooked.
